Choosing the PERFECT Engagement Ring
There is no doubt about it: picking out the perfect engagement ring can be an overwhelming and scary task.
It’s even more nerve-racking when the engagement is going to be a surprise. Luckily, we’ve come up with a helpful solution! We sat down with Courtney from Estate Jewelers in Toledo, Ohio in order to get professional advice on picking out the perfect ring for your engagement. She gave us the following helpful tips to ensure the ring you pick will WOW your special someone.
Have you talked about marriage?
Most brides have been planning their wedding since they were little girls. Many have already picked out their dream wedding ring and have added it to a Pinterest board. If they’re not pinning, they have at least talked about their dream wedding ring at some point with their family or friends.
What is your partner’s metal color preference?
These can range from yellow, gold, white gold, platinum or rose gold, and more. Take a look at their other jewelry to see what they usually wears. Or again, take to Pinterest!
What kind of lifestyle do they have?
There are many careers that involve working with your hands and are notoriously hard on rings. It is vital to choose something that will hold up to her lifestyle. Does your future fiance spend a lot of time in the gym? Run triathlons? Camp and hike a lot? These are questions to consider when picking out the perfect engagement ring.
Medical professionals, construction workers, cooks, police, mechanics, military personnel, estheticians, physical therapists, massage therapists, and firefighters are some of the many careers where it would be a good idea to also purchase a rubber or silicone ring to wear when they are not permitted to wear their metal ring. These bands are non-conductive and heat resistant.
When in doubt, bring a trusted friend.
If your partner and their friends have a similar style, ask their advice or take a close friend or family member shopping with you. If you are able to consult with loved ones, or even send pictures, you can easily purchase a ring you know they will fall in love with.
Shop with a jeweler you trust.
The jeweler will be able to clean, size, check, and service your ring in the future and can also cut through all the confusing jewelry lingo and help you pick a stunning ring.
